Recent exploration activity in the northern region of India uncovered the skeleton remains of a human of phenomenal size. This region of India is called the Empty Quarter. The discovery was made by National Geographic Team (India Division) with support of Indian Army since this area is under the jurisdiction of the army. The article also discusses about the Gods of Indian mythology, Brahma and also talks about the Pandavas, Bhima and his son Gadotkach…, Do you think this is real.., I think no, this is another email hoax.

PhD Students in Italy and time to get residence permit

How to change the interface or display language of Knol beta?

Recently Google started knowledge sharing site where one cane share, edit their knowledge to the world.

When you land on this page, by default, you see the language of the country from where you are accessing knol. For example, you are Japanese and want to access knol in Germany, you will see the interface in Deutsch. Which makes it difficult to access it.

You can change the language after login knol with your Google or Gmail email login and password.

Then go to My Profile >> Preferences >> Display language

Here you can set the language you want. As long as you are logged in, you will see the. You can also translate Knol into other languages like Hindi, African etc.

Knol vs blogger and adsense earnings

Knol and blogger both owned by Google and both comes with adsense and has good earning potential.

Knol is somewhat similar to wiki, where one shares the knowledge to the world that can be edited by the experts or other users. so simply one can say that Knol is a unit of knowledge which is user generated site. That means the articles submitted by users are not edited, fact-checked, or screened before they post. 

On the other hand, blogger is also information sharing but has some restrictions on commenting editing the published information.

Class 2 Digital Signatures

These are most common in terms of use, these type of signatures can be used for IT Tax Return, Loan application, IRCTC , NIC, MCA21, Online banking, E- commerce etc. Class 2 Gold Individual Certificates enable you to digitally sign your e-mail for unequivocal identification, encrypt your mail to block unauthorized access, and electronically authenticate your identity to web servers, e-commerce sites and other transactional portals where proof of identity is mandatory. The extent of identification provided by this class of certificates is limited to the information available on the validating server. Class 2 certificates authenticate your identity , provide content/software integrity and assured encryption standards to maximize security.

These certificates are applicable to personal and commercial use in environments requiring obligatory identity proof.You can not get this type of Digital signatures completely online. You have to apply online through E-mdudhra with some supporting documents like

Attested copy of any one of the following as identity proof (attestation may be by any Public Notary/Gazetted Officer/Bank Manager)

*Passport

*Driving License

*Voter's ID

*PAN card

*Company ID Number

Digital Certificate - Class 3 Platinum

Class 3 signatures have maximum security level. These are issued to individuals, organizations and devices and are applicable for personal and commercial use. Typically, they are used for Electronic Data Exchange (EDI), internet banking/broking, e-tendering and other web-based transactions where confidentiality and authenticity are critical.

These are digital certificates that are appropriate for digital signatures, encryption, electronic access control, e-commerce and online financial transactions that require a strong assertion of the customer's identity.

Documents required for class 3 are same as class 2. Cost for Class 3 signatures for an individual is higher than that of the class 2 which adds additional security.

Can one NRI (Non Resident Indian) cast the online vote from abroad?

As an Non Resident Indian, you can NOT cast the vote. Indian government does not allow online voting. However Indian government is the first one in the world to have the electronic voting machine.

Although some websites claims that you can cast the vote, but they only make money by attracting the visitors. Non of the single vote is counted. However they put is as "opinion poll" not the "poll" and put the results on their website.

As an Indian, You can NOT cast your vote, if you do not see your name in the election list. however you can request to add your name for the next general election. You can only cast your vote, if you see your name in the electoral list and have a valid ID card.

How to apply for an Indian voter's ID card or Electors Photo Identity Card?

Many of us does not know that Voter’s ID card is not a mandatory document for Voting.., Voter ID card is only for Identity purpose.., if you have any other identity docs like Passport, PAN card or Driving license, Govt issued ID card, then you do not need a Voter ID card.

L'Aquila Earthquake: Before and after disaster on 6th April 2009

I am an Indian living in Italy. The day, 6th April 2009, this devastating earthquake in L’Aquila brought sudden disaster killing over 150 and destroying ancient buildings, I received lot of calls from India as well as from my friends. Well I live in North far from Central Italy.

I have visited L’Aquila once, It so beautiful city situated at the altitude of around 700 meters surrounded by Apennine Mountains. Below is the picture of the highest mountain of Italy "Gran Sasso" viewed from L'Aquila.


The destruction was so heavy that it destroyed almost all old building. The Anime Sante of L'Aquila in the city centre is totally destroyed. You can see the picture before and after catastrophe.

Google AdSense Video Units Are to be retired by the end of April 2009

Have you noticed the message under the Video Units section of your AdSense account? If not then you will see that "This feature will be retired at the end of April 2009"



Yes, It is going to retire by the end of this month. If you still have some video units, then you can remove by the end of this month. Video units could not become very popular as compared to text ads. I have put the video unit at the bottom of my blog, but I could earn less than 1% from these units. So discontinuing this service will not affect your adsense earning.

It was hard for me to find the solution of this problem using Matlab help. Finally I found the solution and writing here so that it can be useful for you.

The following example creates four plots. Simple copy and paste the whole code and see what it does.

USB Pen drive or Hard disk does not open with double click

If you have some trouble with your USB device and your USB Pen drive or Hard disk does not open with double click, it means that it is infected with some virus or it was infected with some virus but the autorun.inf is still in the home directory of your USB device.

The main culprit is autorun.inf and  .exe file in your home directory of USB device.

In this blog I will explain you the process to remove it without having antivirus in your PC.

Method 1: Format

• Format your Pen Drive if you have less data
  
• Right click and then format
  

Method 2: With windows command prompt
If you have windows as operating system

• Boot the system in safe mode (You can try in normal mode also)
  
• Open the command prompt and then go to the respective directory of your Pendrive or USB device.
  
• Use this command at command prompt "type autorun.inf"
  
• and find something with extension .exe inside the autorun.inf
  
• lets see you find "attack.exe"
  
• Use "del /A:R autorun.inf" and "del /A:R attack.exe"
  
• Try using "del /A:H" or "del /A:S" if the above command does not delete.
  
• Now the virus is removed.
  

Method 3: With Linux

• If you have linux (fedora, ubuntu or suse) system
  
• just insert your USB device.
  
• You will see autorun.inf
  
• Open the autroun.inf and find something with extension .exe inside the file
  
• Now remove both "*.exe" and "autorun.inf" files from your pen drive or USB device.
  
• Now you are free from virus.
  

If you are using antivirus, then exe file is removed by the virus but autorun.inf remains there, you can follow the same steps to remove autorun.inf

Please backup your all data before trying this. Use these commands only at the respective USD drive letter. Do not try on C:/ or D:/ Drive of your PC.

You can do an outward remittance by the following procedure:

* Submit an application with the requisite documentation

1. For Wire Transfer
You need to provide additional information as under:
* Beneficiary name
* Beneficiary bank Account number
* Bank swift code. (If the swift code is not known then the beneficiary bank's complete address)

You can do outward remittance in any currency you want.
There are three options of Wire Transfer"OUR", "SHA" and "BENE".

2. For Foreign currency demand draft (FCDD)
The DD can be made only in the following currencies: Check your bank for more currencies.
a. Us Dollar(USD)
b. British Pound(GBP)
c. Euroland Euro(EURO)
d. Singapore Dollar(SGD)


Documents required:
*Request letter from the applicant
*Applicant details (name and address) and passport number
*Purpose of remittance
