Now you can check the status of your resident permit on the website of the State Police, The new information service of the Italian Police website allows the track the status and indicates where to pick up your permesso if it is ready.
You can check your status here
http://questure.poliziadistato.it/stranieri/
From Mobile
http://www.poliziadistato.mobi/
Since May 2009, you can see the status of applications for issue, renewal or duplicate permit. This service is available in six languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish , Russian and Arabic).
Accessing the database is very easy. Just type in the field provided the "Codice Assicurata" if it is sent by post or the given code, if the application was lodged in the questura. If the residence permit is ready, You will find the information where you can collect it through a map that shows throughout the country. In other cases it will show “residence permit is being processed.”
The new online service of the State Police can also use the phone, the user can also add the data on residence permits to their own start page 'iGoogle' and also subscribe to feeds.
Earlier this facility was only available on http://www.portaleimmigrazione.it/ where you could check the status till you have your first appointment with the questura for finger prints and submitting your photographs.

what does it mean if its written...this permit to stay is not present on this archive...
ReplyDeletehas it been more than one year you have applied for PDS or your contract/study documents you have submitted with your application has ended?
DeleteIts means that your application is closed due to some reason. Please contact you local questura immediately.
I have this problem too since 2days ago, it's always saying the permit is not in their archive. I think may be its their website error or something, I will check there in person anyway
ReplyDeleteMy status went from being in process ("stato del suo permesso di soggiorno: documento di soggiorno in trattazione) on 14 May. But then on May 17 it changed to "il documento di soggiorno non è presente in archivo" (permit document is not present in our archives). It remained that status until May 28. Then the day after on May 29 now it is back to saying it is back in "process" (trattazione) and has remained saying that til now June 6.
ReplyDeleteI originally went to questura for fingerprinting and submitting original paperwork on 8 May 2012. They told me it would be about 30 days and that when my permesso was ready they would text me. Mine is a renewal for 2 years. Hope this helps someone.
UPDATE FROM JUNE 6 POST ABOVE (I am the one that did my fingerprinting on 8 May): Today is Saturday 9 June and I checked online and my PDS status now says it's ready, it says "Il documento di soggiorno è pronto per la consegna. In consegna, con sms le verrà indicato quando e dove ritirare il permesso di soggiorno. Lo può ritirare presso: UFFICIO IMMIGRAZIONE PRESSO UFFICIO STRANIERI POLIZIA - Sondrio+ (in english this is "Your residence permit is ready. You will be informed by SMS when and where you can collect it. The residence permit can be collected from: UFFICIO IMMIGRAZIONE PRESSO UFFICIO STRANIERI POLIZIA - Sondrio."
ReplyDeleteThere was a map to the Questura in Sondrio.
I have not yet received the SMS from the Questura, but we will call on Monday to check over the phone. This whole process took 30 days as promised by the Questura in Sondrio. Now, Sondrio is a very small city in comparison to Rome or others, so I cannot speak for others, but in Sondrio there has never been any lines or excessive waiting. The first PDS I got last year took only 35 days and this renewal took exactly 30 days. Hope this helps someone.

So it appears that the system itself may have errors on it at times, it goes from saying it is in process, to saying it is not in the archives, as mine did this back and forth. Also during that time I entered in just random numbers and it still said your PDS is not in the archives. I feel that when it says the PDS is not in the archives is when the system is either updating or not being maintained or an error in their system. I feel that when it says it is being processed that that is when the system is working fine. I will report back to let you know what the system says next week after I already have picked up my PDS. I spent literally hours trying to decipher all of this online and some folks said "not in the archives" meant a problem and/or that the PDS was ready. However, in my case it just meant the system not working properly. So my advice would be to keep checking the system and keep a log of the status. After 30 days is when it counts more I think and that is when you should contact the Questura directly, about 35 days if system not say that it is ready yet. The Questura can look it up while you are on the phone. At least in the smaller cities like Sondrio.
