Adding child account in yahoo family account, Parent control over Child

Today I was trying to create a yahoo email account for my Son who is under the age of 13 years; I was surprised to see that yahoo does not allow creating the child account under the age of 13 without the consent of the parents while I could do the same in gmail.

I explored little bit and I am writing my experience. Lets have a look, how does it work,

You have to go to yahoo signup page and fill the registration details of your child, if the age of child is under 13 (DOB). After clicking the "I Agree" button to submit the registration, you will be prompted to grant permission for your child and link their account to yours. If you do not already have an family account on Yahoo!, you will be allowed to create one for yourself. To become a parent account, you need to verify with yahoo that you are above 18 years of age. That is done by giving credit card details to yahoo. Yahoo charges 50 cents to open that account and that money goes to the charity.

To create a Family Account, Yahoo! does require you to verify that you are an adult by providing Yahoo! with a valid credit card (if you have not already done so). You will not be charged, and your credit card information will not be stored by Yahoo!.

A Yahoo! Family Account is a free account that allows you to control the information your child shares with Yahoo! and to maintain and monitor their account activity on an ongoing basis. Like you can control the mailing list, mail block list etc.
